PORT ALLEGANY — Star Hose Fire Co. #1 of Port Allegany responded to a fire at the former Pittsburgh Corning building at 701 N. Main St. about 5 p.m. Tuesday.
By the time firefighters arrived, crew members, who were demolishing the building, had put out most of the fire. Fire Capt. Alex Johnson reported the crew was using blow torches to remove duct work when some of the material ignited.
The fire department was on scene for about an hour and a half.
