An Alden, N.Y., man faces charges after allegedly trying to lure children outside of the Callahan Park ice rink building around 8:25 p.m. Friday.
Bradford City Police said Terrance David Sweeney, 61, of Alden, allegedly asked a number of children — both male and female — to go outside with him for unknown reasons. Police said in one case, Sweeney allegedly grabbed a 7-year-old female by the wrist and asked her to come outside with him.
At this time, children reported the actions to city employees and skate guards, police said. The employees took the immediate appropriate action and called city police to respond to the scene. Employees then monitored the situation and the whereabouts of Sweeney until officers arrived at the park a short time later.
Police found Sweeney to be intoxicated and disorderly. Officers took Sweeney into custody, removed him from the property and transported him to the city police station for booking.
Sweeney faces charges of disorderly conduct and summary public drunkenness, police said. He was arraigned and remanded to McKean County Jail in Smethport on $10,000 cash bail.
