The Zonta Club of Bradford met Wednesday at Togi’s Blue Room to honor Zonta’s most famous past member, Amelia Earhart.
The club honored six Bradford Area High School senior girls nominated by their guidance counselors to share in this event. Honored were Janelle Lockwood, Bryttinie O’Toole, Cerina Stahlman, Marissa Smith, Rachel Chapin and Dylan Giordano.
Committee members Patti Neidich and Pat Shinaberger presented each of them with a yellow rose, an Amelia Earhart Service Award Certificate and a book titled “Amelia Earhart, A Photographic Story of a Life” by Tanya Lee Stone.
A copy of the book was also donated to the BAHS library in the girls’ honor.
Zontian Vanessa Castano, executive director of YWCA Bradford, gave a talk on Amelia Earhart’s ability to follow her spirit. She encouraged the award recipients to follow their dreams and have the courage and will to follow through on those dreams and never give up.
Also discussed at the meeting was the upcoming Queen of Hearts Card Party on Feb. 4. Club members are invited to sign up to donate food and raffle baskets. Contact Debbie Graves with any questions.
