RIDGWAY — The Elk County Conservation District will be partnering with Cameron, McKean, Potter and Warren counties to host a Best Management Practices workshop for contractors, municipalities, and consultants.
The workshop will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Elk County 911 Center conference room. This is a free workshop, but participants must register to attend.
The workshop is to aid in the under-standing of the various environmental considerations while working in and around waterways. Topics will include: Aquatic Organism Passage (AOP) Considerations & Investment Protection, Proper Pipe Installation, Calculating Proper Grade, Establishing Grade Breaks, Local examples of natural stream design / bioengineering projects, Bridge Maintenance Procedures related to Ch. 105 regulations, Geosynthetic Reinforced Soil Integrated Bridge Systems.
Speakers from Trout Unlimited, the Western Pennsylvania Conservancy, Pennsylvania Department of Transportation, and the Elk County Conservation District will be featured and available for questions.
Certificates of attendance will be mailed to all attendees who attend the workshop for the full duration of workshop.
Lunch and refreshments will be provided. The workshop is free to the first 50 registrants.
