A company from Tionesta is being brought in to replace a valve on Thursday morning that caused water leaking down Interstate Parkway in Bradford on Wednesday night.
Mealy Excavating will install a new valve around 10 a.m. today, reported Bradford City Water Authority Executive Director Steve Disney. In the meantime, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation will sand and salt Interstate Parkway and West Washington Street, where the water is leaking, Disney said.
The water authority was notified of the leak at 7 p.m. Wednesday, caused from a valve leaking up through the stem, Disney said.
The water authority will start digging the crosswalk at the intersection of State Street, North Bennett Street and Interstate Parkway around 7 a.m. Thursday, and Mealy Excavating will put in the new valve around 10 a.m.
Once the old valve is removed, the State Street area could see a brief water outage, Disney said.
As of Wednesday night, no one was impacted by the water leak, he said.
