A gate valve repair at the corner of North Center and State streets on Wednesday morning was completed with no significant issues.
“Everything went as planned,” said Steve Disney, executive director of the Bradford City Water Authority.
During the repairs, water service to some residents on those two streets, along with School Street Elementary School, was off as work was completed. Bradford elementary schools had a two-hour delay to accommodate the project.
Disney said the water was shut off about 7 a.m. It was restored to the elementary school by 10 a.m. and to all other customers by 11 a.m. “It pretty much went off without a hitch,” he said.
The water authority had to dig up the valve and replace it, as it has been leaking the last couple of weeks, causing issues for the agency.
