The Foster Township Supervisors reorganized Tuesday, appointing themselves to the same roles as they held last year.
During the meeting, George Hocker was renamed as chairman and sewer liaison, Dale Phillips as vice chairman again and police commissioner and Supervisor Gus Crissman as road foreman.
Under their leadership, the supervisors hope to tackle several projects this year, including repaving Hedgehog Lane; moving a pole and signs at the intersection of East Main Street and Derrick Road by the Crosby mart; putting everything from the locations of sewer lines to manholes to lights into a computerized mapping system; reworking zoning for residential and commercial building sites; and finishing a Act 537-mandated sewer extension project.
At the meeting, the supervisors also reappointed Shannon Morgan as the secretary/treasurer, Chad Babcock as road foreman, Tom Munn as police chief, Mark Grassi as zoning officer and Bob Baker as code enforcement officer.
In addition, Stapleford & Byham LLC has been appointed as the township’s solicitor; Campbell, Durrant, Beatty, Palombo & Miller PC, labor solicitor; Stiffler, McGraw & Associates, township engineer; and Buffamante Whipple Buttafaro P.C., certified public account.
Todd Fantaskey has been renamed as the township’s sewage enforcement officers, and the alternate is Nick Melnick.
The supervisors also appointed Richard Pedine to a three-year term on the property maintenance appeal board; David White, Larry Brown and Derek Soyke to four-year terms to the planning commission; William Smith to a three-year term on the uniform construction code appeal board; and Barbara Price and William Hallock to one-year terms as township auditors.
Also listed as township representatives were Sally Scrivo as the township’s emergency management coordinator; Kristin Tim to the Bradford Area Public Library board; Donald Fredeen to the Bradford District Flood Control Authority; Pete Gardner to the McKean County Planning Commission; and Shannon Morgan to the McKean County Tax Collection Committee.
Also at the meeting, Munn reported that the department handled 199 complaints, of which 17 involved motor vehicle accidents for December. He also reported that officers issued 25 citations and conducted six criminal investigations last month.
For 2016, police responded to 2,514 complaints, of which there were 145 motor vehicle accidents. There were also 363 citations issued and 125 criminal investigations conducted.
Stephanie Bennett was also hired temporarily to work as a part-time sewer/general clerk to cover sick time and vacation days, effective Dec. 27. She will be paid $10 per hour.
The supervisors also set meetings for 2017. They will hold regular meetings at 7 p.m. during the first Monday of the month and work session meetings at 6:30 p.m. on the third Thursday of the month at the township building at 1185 E. Main St.
