Open Arms Community Church will hold its “Dirty Jesus” Christmas Eve’s Eve candlelight services starting at 6 and 8 p.m. Friday.
“Services will consist of a traditional element with candle lighting and children’s programs, but as always there will be an upbeat, energetic, modern approach to celebrating the reason for the season,” Pastor Mike McAvoy said. “Our Eve’s Eve services are always big and exciting and we believe this year will not be a disappointment.”
This year’s program will continue the December theme of “Dirty Jesus,” discussing how God’s plan of salvation included entering humanity’s mess and getting dirty, he said.
“And that often times God’s way of doing things is different than we would think and it gets messy,” McAvoy said.
As in previous years, a special offering will be received that will be given to support Destinations Bradford, a local charity that serves as a hub of resources and communications between churches and charities to assist the poor and those struggling.
“Destinations does a great job serving those in need and the non-profits of the area,” McAvoy said. “We encourage those who will attend to come planning to give generously in our time of celebration, but also to give generously toward this very worthy community service.”
Open Arms is located at 1289 E. Main St. in Foster Township, just north of Walmart.
