ROULETTE –– A family was left homeless and three pets perished in a structure fire Monday afternoon in Roulette.
Around 4:30 p.m., members of Roulette Chemical Engine Co. #1 responded to 122 Main St. for the report of a fire. Upon arrival on scene, Fire Chief Brad Tucker found the back of a two-story wooden home to be engulfed in flames.
Tucker said no one was at home at the time of the blaze, and the state police fire marshal ruled the cause of the fire as accidental.
Two dogs and a cat died in the fire, Tucker said.
Firefighters remained on scene until around 10 p.m.
The family is staying with a family member, Tucker said. He said two adults lived in the structure; Tucker only knew the last name as being Snyder.
Providing mutual aid to Roulette were fire departments from Coudersport, Port Allegany, Austin and Shinglehouse. Galeton stood by for Roulette at the township’s station.
