Approved on first reading at Tuesday’s Bradford City Council meeting were wages for city employees for the year 2017.
The majority of the salary increases are set by union contracts.
The city’s chief financial officer, Mike Shanks, will earn $71,209.42, while city administrator Teri Cannon will earn $68,673.31, both of which are an increase of $1,501.69. Human resources director Valerie Figula will earn $34,345, an increase of $1,000.35. Executive secretary Elaina Lucco will garner $34,220.47, an increase of $877.50. City solicitor Mark Hollenbeck will earn $52,444.81, an increase of $1,501.69. City treasurer Karen Hector’s salary stayed the same, at $46,000.
In the city’s paid fire department, fire Chief Eric Taylor will earn $65,496.42, an increase of $1,631.69; two captains will earn $58,593.68 and $58,243.68. A firefighter/ EMS coordinator will earn $58,233.68. Four lieutenants will earn between $57,123.68 and $55,993.68; and 12 firefighters will earn between $54,953.68 and $35,993.58.
In the city’s police department, Chief Chris Lucco will earn $68,390.42, an increase of $1,631.69 over his current salary. Assistant Chief Mike Ward will earn $62,128.69, for the same increase as Lucco. Lt. Steve Caskey will earn $63,208.69. School resource officers Steve Green and Tony Lama will earn $59,818.69 and $59,088.69, respectively. Four sergeants will earn between $60,498.69 and $59,278.69. The juvenile officer will earn $58,958.69, while nine patrolmen will earn from $56,888.69 and $41,669.34.
Chip Comilla, director of parks and public works, draws his salary from refuse, streets and parks, for a total of $68,935.81, an increase of $1,501.69. CDL drivers in the refuse department earn between $21.05 an hour and $18.61 an hour; CDL drivers in the streets department earn from $21.70 an hour to $19.49 an hour; and the city’s electrician, Dan Tyger, will earn $38,525.20, an increase of $1,200.
Three laborers in the parks department earn between $20.87 an hour to $19.28 per hour.
In the property maintenance department, officers Kevin Huff and Mark Smith will each earn $36,925, increases of $962.50 each.
The property maintenance director, Jeff Andrews, will earn $11,000 in that position, unchanged from his current salary. He will earn $54,504 from the Office of Economic and Community Development, where he serves as housing rehabilitation director, construction manager, inspector and facilities manager. It is an increase of $1,329 from his current salary.
Sara Andrews, executive director of the OECD, will earn $83,983 in 2017, an increase of $2,048. Elm Street manager Lisa Keck will earn $46,110, an increase of $1,125; Anita Dolan, economic/community development manager, will earn $37,874, an increase of $924. Main Street manager Chelsea Schwab will earn $35,711, an increase of $871.
Salaries for mayor, city council and city controller did not change from the 2016 levels. Mayor Tom Riel will earn $10,000; director of parks and public property will earn $5,000; and the three remaining council members and city controller will each earn $3,500.
The second reading of the wage ordinance will be held at the council meeting scheduled for 7 p.m. Dec. 27.
