SMETHPORT — A Kane man accused of fleeing from state parole was sentenced Friday in McKean County Court to a term in state prison.
Cliff E. Causer, 43, was found guilty by a jury on Nov. 16 of a charge of flight to avoid apprehension. He was sentenced Friday to two to four years in state prison with credit for 11 days of time served.
In April, Causer and co-defendant James Bunce were both wanted on warrants for absconding from state parole supervision in Erie. The pair were accused of leading law enforcement officials on a high speed chase — with Bunce at the wheel — finally eluding them. Bunce was spotted in a vehicle the next day; he ran into the woods and was apprehended a short time later, police had reported. Meanwhile, police reported at the time of Causer’s arrest that he was apprehended that same day at the apartment of Abby Winsor, who was also arrested.
Bunce is serving a term of one to two years in state prison for a charge of flight to avoid apprehension, while Winsor is awaiting a trial for a charge of hindering apprehension, court records indicate.
Also in court, Timothy Stahli, 21, of Eldred, will serve 12 months of probation for a charge of theft by unlawful taking. Court records filed at the time he was first charged indicated that he stole a laptop and a change purse from his mother.
Timothy M. Roche, 60, of Port Allegany, will serve six months of probation for a charge of driving under the influence of alcohol.
Charles T. Duffy, 33, of Altoona, pleaded guilty to a summary charge of disorderly conduct. He will pay a $100 fine.
