SMETHPORT — A Bradford man accused of running over a woman with his car pleaded guilty Thursday in McKean County Court — for the second time.
Jonathon L. Yeager, 33, first pleaded guilty on Aug. 11, but President Judge John Pavlock later rejected the plea agreement at Yeager’s sentencing hearing, when he learned the victim had changed her mind about the sentence suggested in the agreement.
The victim attended the Sept. 15 hearing and explained that Yeager — someone she had considered a friend — hit her with his vehicle when she was trying to stop him from driving home drunk.
On Thursday, Yeager pleaded guilty again to the same charges as he did in August; however, this time it was indicated in court that he faced a state-supervised sentence rather than a county supervised sentence. According to Assistant District Attorney Ashley Shade, on May 6, Yeager caused serious injuries to the victim including a fracture to her vertebra and tailbone and left the scene without providing information or medical assistance.
The charges to which he pleaded are aggravated assault by vehicle; accident involving death/injury when not properly licensed and summary charges of failure to stop and give information/render aid, reckless driving and driving when his license is suspended or revoked.
He will be sentenced Dec. 29.
Yeager is free, having posted 2 percent of $60,000 bail.
