RIDGWAY — The theft and subsequent burning of a vehicle in Elk County is under investigation by authorities, Ridgway-based state Trooper Matthew Grasso announced Tuesday.
Grasso said about 1:45 p.m. Friday, someone stole a vehicle from the Rite Aid parking lot in Ridgway. The vehicle belonged to Thomas Lee Jones, 52, of Lake City.
About 11:15 a.m. Tuesday, the vehicle was found about a half-mile east of Arroyo Road on Pole Road in Spring Creek Township. Someone had lit the vehicle on fire and fled, police stated.
Police indicated it was unclear who stole the vehicle and set it on fire.
The investigation is ongoing, and anyone with information is asked to contact Ridgway-based state police.
