Visitors to the Eldred World War II Museum recently may have noticed a little more Americana than usual, at least in the museum’s store.
The Made in America Store, headquartered in Elma, N.Y., has opened a “store in store” at the Eldred museum.
Mark Andol, founder and chief executive officer of the Made in America Store, said he had visited the museum at the invitation of board member Evan Evans.
“To say we were surprised at this impressive museum complex is an understatement,” Andol said. “How Eldred, this little town of fewer than 1,000 residents, could serve as the guardians of the bounty of historical military treasures within is simply amazing.”
Andol said he has always supported veterans.
“Our company has a core mission that was the genesis of its founding ‘for country, for soldier, for American worker and for our children’s future,’” Andol said. “We give due recognition and honor to those who answered the call to duty, many who were just teenagers themselves.
“We, in turn, are honored to assist this magnificent museum in its new initiative to establish a Made in America ‘Store in Store.’ We know the high value on American products placed by veterans and military families. The story of how American manufacturing gave our fighting men the tools they needed to save the world could not be told in a more fitting place,” Andol said.
He said the idea of opening a space in the museum came about in a whirlwind fashion, in about a month’s time.
“Last Friday we had set four fixtures up in the museum,” he explained. “The store is open now. It’s going to be a win-win.”
Andol said he gets buses of customers at his Made in America Store in Elma, and hopes the tourism factor of his store will help out the museum as well.
