POEMS OF THANKS: We decided to share something pretty for readers to enjoy for this week’s holiday.
Both of these poems are by Frances Wolfe Haight of Kane.
“Thanksgiving”
Thanksgiving is a special day,
When we give thanks for all,
We pray together a prayer of thanks,
As we celebrate this day each fall.
Families get together for food and fun,
And thank the Lord for his grace,
And as we each fill up at the meal,
We are thankful we can fill that space.
Grandma is there and Uncle Joe,
To give support with love,
Aunt Nell is there with stories to tell,
About the good Lord up above.
The children watch with eyes open wide,
As the food is put on the table,
Turkey, potatoes and pumpkin pie,
Are the things we cooked as able.
Now the day is done and over,
Even the dishes are clean and dry,
We will get together again next year,
Eat too much and say goodbye.
HAPPY THANKSGIVING!
“Thank the Lord”
Today, we should thank the Lord above,
And each and every day, for his true love,
And thanks to him, we have a feast,
From the richest family to the least,
And thanks to him, we have clothes,
And can give some to others who need those,
Don’t forget thanks for sleeping well at night,
And waking up in the morning to his bright light,
Our families are another thank you, for sure,
And thanks for the problems that we can endure,
A joyous thank you for all the people we see,
I give thanks for you and hope you pray for me.
Give thanks.
