Three All-American cheerleaders from Floyd C. Fretz Middle School in Bradford received medals and the chance to travel to Heinz Field in Pittsburgh to cheer.
Chosen as All-American cheerleaders were Pyper Bullers, Paige Craig and Mia Huber.
At Heinz, the girls had the chance to cheer with the University of Pittsburgh cheerleaders, as well as to cheer in a parade and learn difficult cheerleading material to advance their skills as a cheerleaders.
In early August, an extensive try-out session was held at Floyd C. Fretz Middle School for a chance to be named All-American cheerleader. The Universal Cheerleaders Association judged the girls in several different areas including a dance, cheers, jumps and tumbling.
Fretz head cheerleading Coach Jennifer Graham-Johnson assisted in planning the event to make it possible for the girls to attend.
“It was a great experience for the girls,” Graham-Johnson said. “They displayed the ability to work hard and represented Fretz school as well as the Bradford community with the utmost respect.”
Graham-Johnson said the Bradford community helped to defray the cost of the event for the cheerleaders.
