For the second straight season, Coudersport’s Michael Kane is the Upper Allegheny Valley Soccer League North division MVP, while District 9-champion Port Allegany is represented by three players on the annual all-star team.
Kane, who led the Falcons to the district semifinals, was the top vote-getter for the 11-player North team. His teammates Eli Timbur and David Kudrick also were named to the squad.
Port Allegany’s Mackenzie Elliot, Brandon McCaslin and goalkeeper Josh Mealy were named from the district champion squad that finished 18-3 as division champions with a narrow 1-0 loss to Seton LaSalle in the first round of the PIAA state playoffs.
St. Marys’ placed two players on the team, Caleb Barackman and Nathan Schneider, while Kane’s Bryce Shreckengost and Ridgway’s Vincent Cristini rounded out the boys’ selections. Elk Catholic’s Charlie Bobbi, Ben Koss and Frankie Singer are all-stars on the Central division team.
On the girls’ side, Port Allegany’s high-scoring Autumn Buchsenschutz is the MVP for the North division, while division champ Ridgway placed a team-high three players on the squad.
Julie Alford, Caitlin Viglione and Lindsey Kocjancic represent the Lady Elkers, while Shaylee Caulkins teamed with Buchsenschutz from the Lady Gators. Both teams fell in the district semifinals.
Kane’s Mackenzie Thayer and Alexis Lima-Lopez made the team as well as St. Marys’ Nicole Muccio and Lauren Eckert. Smethport’s Brittany Szarowicz and Sam Tanner rounded out the North team. Maddi Sorg and Maddie Kear are all-stars from the girls’ Central division team.
Jarrett Esposito (Brockway) and Spenser Myers (Karns City) are MVPs from the Central and South divisions, respectively. DCC’s Riley Meyers and Karns City’s Megan McCartney were the Central and South division MVPs, respectively, on the girls’ side.
