There were nine elementary teams, six middle school teams and four high school teams at the Floyd C. Fretz Middle School reading competition Thursday.
Students were in teams, responsible for reading 42 books on a list for their respective levels and then answering questions about them.
For the elementary school, first place went to Bradford Bookaneers from School Street with 55 points; second place to Bernie’s Bookworms from St. Bernard School with 54 points; and third place to All Saints from Elk County Catholic with 49 points.
For the middle school, first place went to Port Allegany Middle School with 44 points; second place to Coudersport Word Warriors with 44 points; and third place to St. Bernard’s Crazy Catholic Readers with 40 points.
For the high school, first place went to Port Allegany High School with 48 points; second place to Bradford Area High School Bookburners with 18 points; and third place to Coudersport Bookbags with 16 points.
Any school that would like to enter the competition should contact Aimee Emerson at Fretz Middle School. There will be a spring competition on March 16th that students will begin to prepare for now.
