OLEAN, N.Y. — For the next exhibit opening at the Olean Public Library Art Gallery, the winter of 2015 will be on display in all its glorious textures and shades of white.
Photographer Ann Parker has assembled a collection titled “Snow & Ice: Hidden Textures.”
The free opening reception for this exhibit will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday. The reception is sponsored by the Friends of the Olean Public Library and is open to the public. The exhibit runs through Dec. 29.
In this collection of photographs, the viewer will see the textures, colors, whiteness and surprising detail of snow vistas, ice crystals, and snow shadows. Some of the photographs are the actual photos of the scenes, while others have been enhanced by Parker with computer software to bring out the underlying colors, textures, and depth of snow and ice.
This show is one of a series of library exhibits administered by the Olean Public Library and the Cattaraugus County Arts Council. This series is funded in part by the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of Governor Andrew Cuomo and the New York State Legislature.
The Olean Public Library Art Gallery is located at 134 N. 2nd St.
