PORT ALLEGANY — Voters in Port Allegany overwhelmingly approved raising the millage rate that would benefit the Port Area Ambulance Service, according to unofficial vote tallies from Tuesday’s general election.
According to unofficial election results, 447 voters said “yes” to increasing the rate up to one full mill in future budgets beginning in 2017, while 172 voted “no.”
The borough currently provides the ambulance service with one-half mill of funding.
