Coudersport advanced in the District 9 Class A girls’ volleyball playoffs, defeating Otto-Eldred 25-17, 35-33, 19-25, 25-22 Thursday night at Duke Center.
Ally Easton (11 kills, 2 blocks), Kiara Perkins (12 kills, 3 blocks), Haley Keck (37 assists) and Joplin Osgood (50 digs) led the Lady Falcons (18-2).
Pacing O-E (19-3) were Camryn Thomas (17 kills, 12 digs, 10 points, 8 blocks), Emily Smith (42 assists, 14 digs), Ali Cousins (12 kills, 8 digs, 8 points) and Tiffany Bair (10 kills, 7 blocks, 11 points, 5 aces).
“Our girls worked hard all season,” O-E coach Jame Thomas said. “They had a great season. Give kudos to Coudy — they played well and I wish them luck.”
The Lady Terrors swept Coudy during the regular season.
“We have been pretty resilient all season long,” Thomas added. “The third set we won. In the fourth set we were up by four or five points and then our passing took a dive. We were having a rough time getting it to our hitters.”
The Lady Falcons will play Elk Catholic in one semifinal at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Marys High School. Clarion and A-C Valley will meet in the other at 10 a.m. The championship is at 2:30 p.m. The consolation match is 1 p.m.
In other action, Elk Catholic eliminated Smethport 25-11, 25-14, 25-21.
Cassidy Cunningham had 19 kills, Taylor Newton eight kills, Reilly Herzing seven kills and Kara Detsch 31 assists for the winners.
“At times we played some of best volleyball of the season,” ECC coach Rick Fox said. “Hopefully, this will carry forward to this weekend’s Final Four.”
Smethport ends its season 11-7.
