The Bradford First United Methodist Church will celebrate its 140th anniversary of the incorporation of their ministry with a special service at 10 a.m. Sunday.
Church officials said the special service has been planned around the anniversary slogan, “Celebrating 140 years of serving with those who shaped this ministry!” The Rev. Seth McClymonds Jr. has fashioned a sermon, “Whose Influence Is True?,” about the influencers (of yesterday, today, and the future) of the church.
On this special All Saints Sunday, those faithful saints of the church who joined the Church Triumphant this past year will be honored and remembered. The Tower’s pastoral influencers will also be remembered and special messages from previous pastors will be shared.
Church officials said the Rev. Patrick Lenox, Kane District Superintendent of the Western Pennsylvania United Methodist Annual Conference, will be in attendance to share his reflections and memories of his service as associate pastor in the early 1990s.
Following the service, the celebration continues with a time of fellowship, which will include displays of historical memorabilia and photos to view. A PowerPoint presentation has been prepared and will be available for viewing on the history and significance of the stained glass windows that grace the sanctuary. Tours of the facility will be given by long-time members.
