The Bradford Creative and Performing Arts Center’s Tuesday Tribute Concert Series will feature a performance by Ted Vigil as John Denver at 7:30 p.m. Aug. 1 at the Bromeley Family Theater at the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford.
BCPAC Executive Director David Fillenwarth said he has been trying to bring Vigil to Bradford for the past two years.
“I’m excited that Ted will be leaving on a ‘jet plane’ to bring his one man show to Bradford on Aug. 1,” Vigil said. “His portrayal of John Denver is so convincing that our audience will be shaking their heads in disbelief. The spirit of John Denver’s music lives on through Ted Vigil.”
Vigil is not an impersonator, but rather sings a tribute to Denver. Vigil’s gift for the music and polished and energetic performing style presents a warm and delightful evening through some of the world’s most popular music.
Vigil had been writing, recording and performing his original compositions, leading to winning the national title for Talent Quest in Laughlin, Nev., in 2006. After this win, Vigil began to plan a John Denver Tribute show.
In 2010, Vigil performed with John Denver’s lead guitarist, Steve Weisberg, and Eddie Kilgallon, keyboard player for award-winning bands Ricochet and Montgomery Gentry. Vigil had the opportunity to get together with Kilgallon and write a couple of songs which they’ve since recorded in Nashville on their new CD project “Sing My Songs,” which Kilgallon produced.
Ted Vigil’s John Denver Musical Tribute is, indeed, a high. His audiences warm to him instantly as they once again enjoy the music the world grew to love; they walk out of his concerts feeling refreshed and joyous from the experience.
BCPAC officials have also announced that Beefeaters Restaurant and PNC Bank will return as sponsors for the annual Summer Tribute Series.
Two more additional shows to the series will be announced this week, BCPAC officials said.
A season subscription for all five shows in the 2017 Summer Concert Series is only $99 and will go on sale Monday, Nov. 14.
