The Bradford Family YMCA will once again host a Halloween-themed bash for the community on Saturday.
And this year, the party is on.
“Previously on Halloween weekend, we’ve held our annual Boo Bash Haunted House event at the YMCA, and it’s always seen great attendance and support from the local community,” according to Nick Burt, YMCA aquatics director. “This is our first year doing an actual Halloween-themed party, so we’re very excited for that and looking for a similarly successful turnout that reflects new ideas.”
Registration will begin at 2:45 p.m., and the event will take place from 3 to 5 p.m. Saturday.
This year’s activities will include an inflatable slide and bounce house, Halloween games, crafts and face painting, in addition to candy giveaways and fun for the entire family, Burt described.
Also new this year, the event will feature a Floating Pumpkin Patch.
“Participants will basically have an opportunity to get in the water and pick out a pumpkin of their choice, which will be competitive and interactive,” Burt explained. “Then, once they get their pumpkin and dry it off, they’ll head to the Youth Center where there will be pumpkin decorating and carving.”
Halloween crafts will be upstairs in the YMCA gymnasium, Burt added.
The event is open to the public and all ages, Burt noted. However, all children are asked to be accompanied by adults.
All of the proceeds for the event will go “directly” back to the YMCA’s Leadership Team, according to Burt, which allows YMCA officials to organize weekly, monthly and annual events for the local community — events like the annual Halloween-weekend bash.
“The YMCA offers a lot for people in the surrounding area, and this weekend’s event is just another example of that,” Burt said. “It provides residents and their children a fun, interactive place to go on Halloween — especially those who may not feel completely comfortable participating in traditional door-to-door trick-or-treating. This gives them the chance to still go out and participate in the holiday’s festivities — candy, costumes, pumpkin decorating/carving and other activities — all while knowing it’s coming from their local YMCA.”
That sense of comfort, combined with the spooktastic activities and family-fun planned for Saturday afternoon, are just a few reasons Burt encourages families to attend the YMCA’s Halloween Party this weekend.
For members, the event is free admission with $3 per pumpkin patch child. For non-members, the event is $2 admission per child with an additional $3 for the pumpkin patch per child.
Appropriate swimwear for the floating pumpkin patch is required.
