SMETHPORT — A Bradford man who pleaded guilty in July to a felony charge of aggravated indecent assault without consent will serve 3 ½ to eight years in state prison.
Steven J. Taylor, 25, was sentenced Thursday in McKean County Court by President Judge John Pavlock. Taylor also has credit for 464 days of time served. Taylor will also have to register as a sex offender.
Assistant District Attorney Ashley Shade asked that Pavlock specify in his sentencing order that in addition to having no contact with the victim, Taylor should have no indirect contact with her through a third party, either. Pavlock complied.
Due to the number of “factors at play” complicating the case, Pavlock dismissed a parole revocation against Taylor; however, Pavlock did give a sentence that was at the high end of the recommended sentencing range.
Attorney Greg Henry represented Taylor.
Taylor had been scheduled to appear for trial July 18 and 19 on charges including rape by threat of forcible compulsion, but instead he entered a plea of guilty on July 18.
Court records filed at the time he was charged said on July 22, 2015, Taylor had sexual intercourse with a woman without consent.
