Avis Rent a Car System is now open at Bradford Regional Airport.
Airport Manager Alicia Dankesreiter made the announcement Wednesday in a report to the Bradford Regional Airport Authority.
“Right now, our airport won’t be listed be on line at avis.com,” Dankesreiter said. “In the meantime, customers should call the airport office for reservations since Southern Air Express personnel will handle rentals.”
In the airline report that showed Southern Air Express, the Memphis-based low fare airline serving Bradford recorded 423 enplanements during September, Dankesreiter said. Bradford continues to outpace the other regional airports in the PIT Connector System.
“This number is higher than a year ago,” she added.
For September, Southern Air Express completed 100 percent of its scheduled flights.
“Things are running smoothly on time, and we’re still very pleased with the service,” said Dankesreiter.
In other news, Brian Wolfel, an engineer with GAI Consultants Inc., reported on two projects.
He said the targets for aerial mapping have been laid out for the obstruction removal project. “The flying is to begin in the spring,” Wolfel added.
Wolfel also said a pre-design meeting for the hangar door replacement project was slated for Wednesday afternoon.
Facilities Manager David Thomas reported the maintenance crew continues to address the needs of the red brick hangar, repair doors, remove trees, paint the upgrade of runway markings, repair equipment, such as the sand truck and old loader.
Elk County’s representative on the authority, Dan Freeburg, commended the staff for completing the various projects
“My hat’s off to you for doing this work in-house. It’s commendable,” he said.
“Thank you,” Thomas said, “I’ll pass that on to the employees.”
Vice-chairman Ron Dankesreiter, the Cameron County representative on the authority, conducted the meeting in the absence of Chairman Cliff Lane.
The authority members met in an executive session, but took no official action after returning to the public agenda.
