As spring slowly trickles into Bradford, residents are beginning their outdoor and indoor spring cleaning projects.
Bradford City and McKean County may help residents dispose of their unwanted items.
For city residents, this includes yard waste pick-ups and a spring clean-up, and for all county residents this includes an electronics drop-off.
Yard waste pick-up for Bradford City residents will begin on Monday, according to Chip Comilla, the city’s director of parks and public works.
Residents can place yard waste items out for pick-up the day after their regular garbage pick-up, he said. For example, if one resident’s garbage is picked up on Tuesday, that person’s yard waste will be picked up on Wednesday.
“Leaves and grass clipping go in clear plastic bags so we can identify it,” he said. Further, branches must be cut to 40-inches in length and tied together in bundles of no more than 40 pounds.
For any city residents willing to bring their yard waste directly to the public works barn, the gate for the 112 Holley Ave. facility will be open between 7 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, said Comilla. There are separate bins just inside the gates.
Additionally, the spring clean-up pick-up in Bradford lasts from April 11-25, Comilla said.
Spring clean-up, which does not include yard waste, will be picked up on residents’ regular garbage day. Items must be less than four feet long and weigh less than 40 pounds, and there is a $35 charge for white goods.
Spring clean-up does not include tires, motor oil, car batteries, hazardous waste, liquid paint, construction materials, snowmobiles, motorcycles, liquid grease, propane tanks or electronic equipment.

Meanwhile, all McKean County residents are invited to dispose of electronics at a drop off that will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. June 24 at the city’s public works barn. This is the second year in a row the annual electronics pick-up has been held at that location, said Comilla.
He explained that the trash collectors are no longer allowed to pick-up or dispose of electronics.
More information on the electronics drop-off will be available as the date approaches.
