The Waverly-Shell Rock School District is taking over the Lied Education Center on the Bremwood campus.
While the new arrangement will go into effect during the 2016-2017 academic year, a robust transition is under way to ensure that the plan is in place when the doors open for students in August.
The learning center, a self-sustaining consortium of about 22 area school districts, where each member pays their share of the $2.3 million annual operating budget, has been managed by AEA 267 since the mid 1980s, said Rod Ball, the agency’s assistant director of special education.
