BURLINGTON, Vt. (AP) — The University of Vermont medical school is offering what is believed to be one of the nation’s first full courses in the science of using marijuana as medicine.
But the professors say they are challenged by a lack of research on what’s been a taboo topic.
Twenty three-states including Vermont allow the use of medical cannabis for a range of medical conditions, although marijuana is still illegal under federal law.
University of Vermont professors say the class is aimed at trying to raise awareness about a potentially useful drug and to dispel myths.
