Bradford Township Supervisor James Erwin will retain his seat for six more years, unofficial election results indicate.
Erwin, the Republican candidate, beat out Democratic candidate Bob Cummins for the position.
According to preliminary results, Erwin nabbed 435 votes — or 53.11 percent, while Cummins took 383 — or 46.76 percent. There was one write-in vote.
“I am honored that the residents of Bradford Township have re-elected me to the office of township supervisor,” said Erwin late Tuesday. “I would like to thank all those who supported me in Bradford Township, as well as the surrounding communities in my re-election campaign. My promise is to keep Bradford Township moving forward.”
Erwin and Cummins vied for the Republican nod in the May primary, which Erwin won, but Cummins took enough Democratic write-in votes to appear on the ballot this November.
Erwin, a lifelong McKean County resident who has served as a police officer, owns his own excavating business and is president of the McKean County Association of Supervisors.
