SMETHPORT — Morgan Okerlund’s bases-clearing double in the first inning proved to be all the offense Smethport needed, as they beat Coudersport in both teams’ regular season finale, 4-0 Friday.
Okerlund three-run double provided all the cushion for Brooke Kane-Walker, who had another terrific outing on the mound. She struck out 12, walked one and allowed five hits in her complete game shutout.
Bianca Russell-Gooch was 2-for-3 with a double for Coudersport, while Katie Bertrand also tossed a complete game, allowing seven hits, walking two, hitting two batters and striking out three.
Coudersport will travel to Duke Center in the District 9 Class A first round Monday at 4:30 p.m. in the 8-9 game while Smethport, the No. 2 seed, awaits the winner of the 7-10 game between Clarion and Northern Potter (Monday) on Wednesday.
