GALETON — It was business as usual for Smethport on Friday against Galeton.
Brooke Kane-Walker tossed a two-hit shutout and the middle of the Lady Hubbers’ lineup — 3-4-5 hitters Katie Burdick, Nicole Nolte and Morgan Okerlund combined to drive in six runs in a 7-0 victory.
“The middle of our lineup and Brooke Kane-Walker was the story of the game,” said Smethport coach Dr. Jim Kane.
Kane-Walker was described by her coach as ‘in complete control.’ She struck out 11 and walked just one in her victorious effort.
Meanwhile, the Smethport offense was doing its thing.
Nolte had a monster game, going 3-for-4 with three doubles and four RBIs, while Okerlund was 2-for-3 with an RBI and Burdick belted a two-run single.
“The middle of our lineup really came through,” Kane said.
With the win, Smethport improved to 11-1, while Galeton falls to 8-7 with the loss.
The Lady Hubbers have a quick turnaround, hosting Smethport at 10 a.m. today.
