JOHNSONBURG — In a run-and-gun fourth quarter that saw 49 total points put on the board, visiting Elk County Catholic turned back Johnsonburg’s challenge, 56-47, Friday night in boys basketball action.
The Crusaders, now 15-1 on the season, scored 23 points in the final eight minutes of play, while the Rams put up 26, but fell short of pulling off an upset.
ECCH held a 33-21 lead at the end of three quarters and used the freethrow line to its advantage the entire game. ECC was 16-for-20, while the Rams were just 5-for-8.
Nate DaCanal led the Crusaders offensively with a game-high 21 points, while Jeffrey Wehler added 11 tallies.
For Johnsonburg (8-9), Kevin Benson scored 19 points.
