Pitt-Bradford senior forward Alicia Kimmel has been nominated to the 2015 Allstate Women’s Basketball Coaches Association Good Works Team, as announced by the WBCA this week.
The Good Works Team is a prestigious community service award that recognizes a distinguished group of student-athletes who have demonstrated a commitment to enriching the lives of others and contributing to the greater good in their communities. The WBCA and Allstate Insurance partner together annually to recognize these individuals.
From the 93 WBCA nominees, distinguished voting panels will select five student-athletes from the NCAA Division I level and five student-athletes from NCAA Divisions II, III and the NAIA. The final roster of award recipients will be unveiled in February.
“This is a huge accomplishment for our program that Alicia is a finalist for this award,” said head coach Patrick Daniel. “This is the first time anyone from our women’s basketball program has been nominated and a finalist.”
Currently four games into her senior campaign; Kimmel is tied for first on the Panthers’ roster with 12.3 points per game and leads the team with 23 total rebounds. She has started all four contests and recently became the newest member of the Pitt-Bradford 1,000-point Club with her 20-point performance in the team’s season opening victory at Elmira College on Nov. 15.
