HOPE, MI — No. 4 Hope College handed the Pitt-Bradford women’s basketball team its first loss of the season, 76-44 in the first round of the host school’s tournament Friday.
Maura McAFee led the winners with 17 points, as Hope showed why they are a top five team nationally, building a 40-19 halftime lead.
Freshman guard Ali Rinfrette led Pitt-Bradford with 13 points on 4-of-10 shooting. She also had three steals, three rebounds and an assist. Abby Brate chipped in with 10 points for Pitt-Bradford (1-1), which shot just 26 percent from the floor and turned the ball over 23 times.
The Panthers will play Otterbein, which suffered a 72-62 loss to Defiance, in the consolation game today at 1 p.m.
