JOHNSONBURG — The Bradford High volleyball team improved to 11-4 with a three-set (25-23, 25-10, 25-22) victory over Johnsonburg on Tuesday.
In the process, they swept the season series from the Ramettes.
“I thought we served well tonight,” said Bradford coach Mike Leet. “This week we have a lull with only one game so we have a chance to work on some things before the Maplewood Tournament this weekend.”
A number of Lady Owls turned in solid performances, with Leet praising the play of Courtney Henry (9 blocks, 6 kills), Hailey Burgess (23 assists) and Jess Buchheit (16 digs, 9 kills) among others.
“I thought Courtney Henry had a great game tonight in the middle and Jess Buchheit did a nice job on the outside,” he said. “Hailey Burgess set a really nice game and worked really hard to set up our hitters.”
Also pacing Bradford were Marissa Yohe (5 kills), Rylee Lundgren (5 kills) and Courtney Holzwarth (8 digs).
“We gave up some big runs, but I thought the girls did a really nice job of adjusting,” Leet said. “The girls are working really hard.”
Bradford’s JV team was also a winner, 2-1 over the Ramettes.
After Maplewood, Bradford has two matches remaining before the District 9 playoffs — at St. Marys Tuesday and hosting Kane on Oct. 23.
