So, what did you think of the Bills players carrying off defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz after their 17-14 win over the Lions, where Schwartz was previously employed as a head coach?
It seemed a little juvenile to me, especially after a Week 5 game in the regular season, but I’ll admit, I did let out a chuckle after seeing it.
It seems like the Lions have been on the receiving end of things like this for years. Well, I guess the reason it seems that way is because they have been.
Oh well, on to bigger and better things in Week 6.
A 14-1 mark is much more like in Week 5, upping my record to 48-28.
Indianapolis (3-2) at Houston (3-2)
Who would have thought that this game would be for first place in the AFC South at this point in the season? Certainly not me.
Indianapolis is 20-4 since Houston returned to the NFL and the Colts have won nine-straight Thursday night games.
Andrew Luck leads the league in passing yards (1,617) and touchdowns (14) but is also tied for the league lead in interceptions (6).
Road teams haven’t fared well on Thursday’s, but I think you’re starting to see the Colts play at the high-level that most expected them to at the start of the season …. INDIANAPOLIS 24, HOUSTON 21
New England (3-2) at Buffalo (3-2)
Just when everyone is ready to write off New England, they go out and dominate against a previously unbeaten Cincinnati team.
This is one of those classic ‘show me’ games. Buffalo is off to a solid start at 3-2, but, for the Patriots to be written off, someone else in the AFC East has to step up. Could it be the Bills?
Kyle Orton was solid in his first game starting in place of the inconsistent EJ. Manuel, completing 30-of-43 passes for 308 yards with one touchdown and one interception.
The Patriots are 8-1 in their last nine trips to Buffalo and the Bills will have to show they can win games like this consistently before I can pick them … NEW ENGLAND 27, BUFFALO 21
Pittsburgh (3-2) at Cleveland (2-2)
Again, another ‘show me’ game. Is Cleveland ready to take the next step to being a contender?
The Browns are coming off the largest regular season road comeback in NFL history against Tennessee last week and they are 5-2 with Brian Hoyer as their starting quarterback dating back to last season.
That being said, Ben Roethlisberger has owned the Browns, going 18-1 against them in his career.
The Steelers dominated the Browns in the first half of their Week 1 matchup, but the Browns mounted a furious second half rally and Pittsburgh needed Shaun Suisham’s 41-yard field goal at the gun to preserve the win.
Forgive me, but I’m one that likes to see proof before I can go with something. And as much as I like the way Cleveland has been playing, they will, much like the Bills, have to show that they can win games like this on a consistent basis … PITTSBURGH 27, CLEVELAND 24
Jacksonville (0-5) at Tennessee (1-4)
Jake Locker is hurt again — shocker.
Blake Bortles has had his moments, but also showed inconsistencies in last week’s loss against the Steelers, throwing a critical pick-six in the fourth quarter.
Flip a coin … TENNESSEE 20, JACKSONVILLE 17
Baltimore (3-2) at Tampa Bay (1-4)
This is a dangerous game for Baltimore.
If they don’t think so, they need look no further than their division rival Pittsburgh, who was stunned at home by the Bucs.
Tampa has bounced back nicely since that Thursday night embarrassment against Atlanta, beating the Steelers and nearly beating the Saints, who had to mount a big rally late.
This is a game that Baltimore needs to win to keep pace in a tight AFC North race, and I think they do … BALTIMORE 24, TAMPA BAY 17
Denver (3-1) at N.Y. Jets (1-4)
Is there a bigger mess in the NFL than the Jets? Well, maybe Oakland, but you get my drift. This one could get ugly … DENVER 38, N.Y. JETS 14
Detroit (3-2) at Minnesota (2-3)
Vikings fans are rejoicing the return of Teddy Bridgewater after watching Christian Ponder’s latest debacle.
Detroit should be plenty mad after losing a game they probably should have won against the Bills and I think they will take it out on the Vikings … DETROIT 27, MINNESOTA 17
Carolina (3-2) at Cincinnati (3-1)
Carolina has struggled mightily in losses to AFC North teams Pittsburgh and Baltimore.
Traveling to Cincinnati won’t be any easier, as I look for the Bengals to bounce back after a tough loss at New England knocked them from the ranks of the unbeaten … CINCINNATI 26, CAROLINA 17
Green Bay (3-2) at Miami (2-2)
Like Aaron Rodgers told everyone, relax. The Packers are just fine … GREEN BAY 31, MIAMI 24
San Diego (4-1) at Oakland (0-4)
Philip Rivers is salivating …. SAN DIEGO 42, OAKLAND 17
Chicago (2-3) at Atlanta (2-3)
It’s time to start figuring out what teams are and I have no idea what to make of these two. They both have a ton of talent, yet both battle issues with consistency.
The Bears rush defense has been solid, but their pass defense has been suspect, and Matt Ryan has thrown for 1,579 yards through five games … ATLANTA 35, CHICAGO 31
Dallas (4-1) at Seattle (3-1)
How bout them Cowboys!
Dallas looks legit, but no one that’s gone to Seattle lately has left very happy … SEATTLE 27, DALLAS 20
Washington (1-4) at Arizona (3-1)
How much do I like Arizona? I think they can win even with rookie Logan Thomas at quarterback … ARIZONA 30, WASHINGTON 21
N.Y. Giants (3-2) at Philadelphia (4-1)
A big Week 6 game for what, at least early, looks like it might be the best division in the NFL.
The Giants offense has been officially resurrected, while the Eagles must find a way to get the ball in the hands of LeSean McCoy more.
McCoy, who led the NFL in rushing last year, has just 273 yards through five games …Philadelphia 31, Giants 27
San Francisco (3-2) at St. Louis (1-3)
I guess we know how to the 49ers just fired up. Just spread rumors about how coach Jim Harbaugh has lost the locker room. Apparently he hasn’t … SAN FRANCISCO 28, ST. LOUIS 21
