Bradford’s Hannah Burgoon and Ashley Stoltz each won their opening round matches in the District 9 Class AA singles championships Friday at Pitt-Bradford
They both bowed out in the quarterfinal, however, one win away from playing each other in the semis.
Burgoon beat Punxsutawney’s Hannah White in the first round, 10-8, followed by a 10-4 loss to Taylor Hepler of Brockway in the quarters.
Stoltz, meanwhile, earned a 10-6 first round win over Rachel Homan of Clearfield before falling to St. Marys’ Sarah Casey in the quarters, 10-0.
Casey, the No. 2 seed, and Amber Ward of Punxsutawney, the No. 1 seed, held serve and will meet each other in today’s championship match at Benzinger Park in St. Marys.
