Starting Oct. 6, the Bradford Main Street Movie House will showcase a variety of independent films as part of its Fall 2014 Independent Film Series.
Kicking off the series is the film “Begin Again,” starring Keira Knightley and Mark Ruffalo.
The story depicts a chance encounter between a disgraced music business executive and a young singer-songwriter new to Manhattan, which turns into a promising collaboration.
Continuing a three year old tradition, films will play at 5:30 and 9 p.m. Mondays. This gives viewers the opportunity to plan a dinner and movie night.
Lara Ericson, manager at the Movie House, explained that all films have been hand selected by owner Todd Hennard, herself and Hennard’s family.
To Ericson’s knowledge, the Movie House is the only theater in the area that offers independent films.
“We have some great films coming up and we hope everyone enjoys them,” Ericson said.
Tickets for the shows are $7 each or $65 for all 10 films, which includes a medium bag of popcorn for each show.
Students at the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford, with proof of identification, will receive $1.75 off their purchase.
The remainder of the film schedule is as follows:
• Oct. 13, “Boyhood,” rated R, is filmed over 12 years with the same cast. Richard Linklater’s boyhood is a groundbreaking story of growing up, as seen through the eyes of a child named Mason.
• Oct. 20, “A Most Wanted Man,” rated R, is a tale of a Chechen Muslim who illegally immigrates to Hamburg where he gets caught in the international war on terror.
• Oct. 27, “Calvary,” rated R, begins after a priest is threatened during a confession. The good-natured priest must then battle the dark forces closing in around him.

The “100-Foot Journey,” rated PG, shows the Kadam family leaving India for France where they open a restaurant directly across the road from Madame Mallory’s Michelin-starred eatery.
