SMETHPORT — Crews worked to lift beams into place on Tuesday afternoon at the site of the new home of A Partnership in Housing Administrative Office Building at Fulton and West Main streets in Smethport.
The project began at the end of May and the anticipated completion date is the end of April, according to Dusti Dennis, executive director of the McKean County Housing and Redevelopment Authorities.
“At this point, weather has affected the project a bit due to all the rain we experienced early on, so at this time, we are about three weeks behind schedule,” Dennis said.
The foundation walls are complete. It is anticipated the structural steel that is now being erected will take approximately four weeks from start to finish, Dennis said.
The stair tower and elevator shaft are under construction, and work on these areas will resume once the steel is in place.
By the end of October, CBF Contracting intends to have the structure under roof.
“The stormwater retention area has been started on the lower lot along Water Street, and the lot is being excavated,” Dennis noted. “So far, there has been minimal work from our other contractors: William Spaeder, plumbing; Dave Kronenwetter, electrical; and Mazza, mechanical.
“At this point. Spaeder has installed the underground sanitary exterior pipe and was working on the interior piping.”
Once the building is completed, the administrative offices will move from their current location on East Water Street to the new facility. The site of the three-story, 5,184-square-foot building was the vacant lot of the former flower, crafts and gift shop that was destroyed by fire in the 1990s.
