Coudersport and Port Allegany each remained unbeaten in North Tier League volleyball action with wins on Thursday.
The Lady Falcons earned a three-set (25-13, 25-21, 25-20) decision over Austin, while the Lady Gators needed four sets (22-25, 25-20, 25-17, 25-18) to turn back Smethport.
“Austin played great defense, there girls were digging everything,” said Coudersport coach Patti Wilson.
Leading Coudy against Austin was Liz Burd (11 kill, 14 digs), Kiara Perkins (5 kills, 5 aces) and Kianah Delong (22 digs, 3 kills).
Pacing Austin was Kaylee Brooks (8 digs, 2 kills) and Nicole Smith (4 assists, 10 digs).
On Wednesday, Coudy recorded an exciting four-set (23-25, 26-24, 25-21, 25-19) non-league win over Mansfield.
In the win against Mansfield, Burd (14 kills, 30 digs, 5 blocks), Allie Easton (11 blocks) and Delong (44 digs) led the way.
“The volleys were just awesome,” Wilson said of the Mansfield match.
The Lady Falcons (2-0) return to action Saturday at the Williamson Tournament.
In other action, Port Allegany improved to 3-0 on the season with its win over Smethport.
Brooke Roys (6 points, 20 kills, 10 blocks), Mira Terrette (9 service points, 37 assists), Bri Bell (5 service points, 12 kills), Rikki Rennells (15 service points, 7 kills, 2 blocks) and Allison Lathrop (10 service points) led the Lady Gators.
Pacing Smethport was Allysa Larson (10 blocks, 5 kills), Morgan Okerlund (8 kills) and Brooke Kane-Walker (12 kills).
Also, Northern Potter squared its league record at 1-1 with a three-set (25-20, 25-10, 25-17) win over Cameron County.
Leading the Lady Panthers were Katie Bennett (6 points, 1 ace, 5 kills, 1 block, 8 assists, 6 digs), Demi Youse (13 points, 7 aces, 2 kills, 4 digs) and Harlie Wenrich (8 points, 3 aces, 4 kills and 4 digs).
“It was kind of a slow start for us, but once we got going we did well,” said Mark Lewis, Northern Potter coach.
The Lady Panthers return to action Tuesday at Austin.
