OLEAN, N.Y. — The 7th Annual Betty Bergreen Junior Match Play Championship gets under way today at the Bartlett Country Club and concludes with the finals on Saturday.
The field includes 16 junior golfers who were invited based on their play in the Penn-York Junior Golf League.
Bartlett’s Caleb Edwards is the number 1 seed with a 69.5 scoring average. Edwards won the 2014 Davis Memorial Trophy for having the Penn-York’s lowest scoring average and was the 2014 junior medalist in the SWNY-NWPA Men’s Amateur.
He has signed to play golf for Roberts Wesleyan College in Rochester this fall.
Nolan Ditcher from Cardinal Hills, is the second seed. Ditcher is a two-time NYSPHSAA all-state performer and was the 2013 runner up in The Bergreen. He will be a junior at Randolph Central School this fall.
Dylan Glatz from Moonbrook is the third seed, while Josh Roselli from Laurel Mill is the fourth seed. 2013 Bergreen champion, Wil Lockwood from Moonbrook Country Club, is the 5th seed. He has signed to play golf for Niagara University this fall.
Besides Lockwood, the previous champions of The Bergreen include Josh Stauffer, Corey Haas, Chris Mackey, John Forrest, and Buster Maedel.
