DUKE CENTER — With star hurler Kera Bradt in need of a break in the midst of a busy week, Otto-Eldred turned to sophomore Joslynn Veilleux on Thursday against winless Bradford.
The results were good, as Veilleux struck out three and allowed just three hits and five walks in a 14-3, 5-inning win.
“She did an excellent job,” Otto-Eldred (13-2) coach Carl Templin said. “She threw strikes and made them swing.”
While not on the mound, Bradt made her presence known at the plate, going 2-for-4 with an RBI, while Anna Colebert was 2-for-3 with a triple and an RBI, Kyleigh Anderson was 3-for-3 with three singles and Chyanna Woods had a double and two RBIs.
“We hit the ball extremely well tonight, from top to bottom,” Templin said.
For Bradford (0-13), Rylee Lundgren suffered the loss, allowing nine hits without issuing a walk.
Lundgren also had an RBI single at the plate, as did Kylee Schaumleffel.
The two teams meet again today in Bradford in advance of O-E’s pending showdown with Smethport on Saturday.
