AUSTIN — Behind some timely hitting and solid pitching, Coudersport earned a doubleheader sweep of Austin by scores of 13-3 (5 innings) and 8-6 Friday.
In the first game, Courtney Rodgers was the offensive star, going 4-for-4 with a home run, two doubles and four RBIs. It was a good game for the Coudy (9-3) bats, as Bri Majot was 3-for-3, Keirsten Counts 2-for-3 and Morgan Wilson 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles and three RBIs.
Katie Bertrand got the win, striking out three without issuing a walk.
For Austin, Kaylee Brooks had big game at the plate, going 3-for-3 with a home run and two doubles, while Jessie Reidmiller and Kina Logue were each 2-for-3.
Brooks was on the mound, striking out two.
The second game was much closer, as Coudersport overcame a four-run first inning from Austin to earn the win.
Counts came on in relief in the second inning and struck out a pair.
She helped her own cause on offense, going 2-for-4 with a double, while Majot was 3-for-4 with a double, Macy Gleason 3-for-4 with a double and Wilson 2-for-4.
Brooks had another strong game for the Lady Panthers, going 2-for-4, while Logue and Mia Glover were also 2-for-4.
“Give Austin credit, they scrap to the very end,” said Coudersport coach Dan Counts.
Coudersport returns to action Monday, hosting Cameron County.
