PORT ALLEGANY — St. Bonaventure recruit Haley Majot handcuffed Port Allegany on six hits to lead Bolivar-Richburg to a 13-0 victory ove the Lady Gators in high school softball action Friday.
Majot, a senior who recently signed a National Letter of Intent to play for the Lady Bonnies, fanned eight batters and issued one walk over seven innings of work.
A five-run second inning and a six-run seventh frame supported Majot’s mound effort.
Brenna Gustin and Hannah Evingham each went 2-for-5 with an RBI for Bolivar-Richburg, now 12-1 on the season.
Brooke Roys absorbed the loss for the Lady Gators despite 14 strikeouts. She gave up nine hits and issued five walks, but outfield miscues were a major problem for the visitors.
“You can’t have eight fielding errors against a team of this caliber,” said Mackenna Bickford, Port Allegany coach. “We did have six hits against a good pitcher, but the errors hurt us.”
Leading the Lady Gators at the plate were Kaylee Ernst who was 2-for-3 with two doubles and Roys who was also 2-for-3.
Port Allegany, now 6-4, kicks off a busy week with a doubleheader at Oswayo Valley on Monday.
