COUDERSPORT — Behind some timely hitting, Coudersport earned a doubleheader sweep of Northern Potter Friday.
After winning the first game 8-3, the Lady Falcons trailed 7-2 going into the sixth in the second game, but scored three runs in the sixth and two more in the seventh to tie it.
They erupted for seven runs in the eighth inning, ultimately closing the game out before impending darkness hit.
Bri Majot went 4-for-6 with a triple, while Courtney Rogers was 3-for-5 with a double and Katie Bertrand 3-for-4 for Coudersport.
Keirsten Counts came on in relief to get the win, striking out seven and allowing five hits.
For NoPo, Tori McCutcheon had a double and Brianna Black was 2-for-4.
“I’m really proud of the girls, they battled and were able to come back,” said Coudersport coach Dan Counts. “Give credit to Northern Potter, they played a good game.”
In game one, Bertrand got the mound win, striking out four and walking two. Majot was 3-for-4, Counts 2-for-4 and Rogers doubled.
McCutcheon was 2-for-4 for NoPo.
Coudersport is back in action Tuesday, hosting Wellsboro.
