KANE — Dynah Kimble, making her first ever start on the mound, impressed Smethport softball coach Jim Kane.
Kimble threw a six-hitter, struck out six and walked one in pitching the Lady Hubbers to a 10-0 six-inning win over Kane High School on Thursday.
“She was awfully nervous,” Kane said of Kimble, a senior. “She settled down and threw strikes. She gave us a chance to play defense behind her.
“Once she settled in she pitched a great game for us. That’s what we were looking for.”
Morgan Edinger suffered the mound loss, giving up nine hits, fanning none and walking five.
Tori Transue (2-for-4, double, 2-run home run) and Brooke Kane-Walker (3-for-4, double) contributed at the plate for the victors (4-0), who scored five runs in the fourth inning and five runs in the sixth inning.
Kane falls to 0-4.
