PORT ALLEGANY — Tyler Shaffer had a double, three RBIs and two runs scored to lead a balanced offensive attack as Port Allegany beat Northern Potter 14-2 Thursday in five innings.
Port Allegany exploded with 11 runs in the fourth inning to take complete control of the game.
Garrett Talkington and Chad Gaines each doubled to help pace the Port A. attack.
Thursday’s game began a stretch of six games in eight days for the Gators (1-1).
“When you have six games in eight days, it’s always nice to start with a win,” said Port Allegany coach Nate Zitnik. “It was a team effort.”
Dylan Kio started for Port and went three innings, walking three and striking out one. Tre Garzel went the final two frames for the Gators, striking out two and walking one.
Port Allegany is back in action today against Portville.
