JOHNSONBURG — Maybe cold weather is the key to success for Bradford High’s boys tennis team.
Thursday afternoon the Owls ignored the cold and rolled to a perfect 9-0 shutout of the Johnsonburg Rams in their season opening match.
“It was cold,” Owls coach Mark Sherman declared. “We had some very close matches, but our kids pulled them out.
“It was nice that all of our kids won today,” he added.
In the singles action, Matt Dennis and Brandon Charnisky needed just two sets to win their matches. Dennis dominated his Rams opponent 6-0 and 6-1, while Charnisky won 6-4 and 7-6.
“Dennis played an outstanding match,” Sherman pointed out. “Both he and Charnisky won in straight sets which was a real boost for our win today.”
Bradford (1-0) returns to action next Tuesday entertaining Brockway in the Owls’ home opener.
