Powerball fever has hit Bradford … and it’s spreading.
Americans everywhere are flocking to lottery outlets across the nation to buy tickets for a chance to win the record high $600 million Powerball jackpot.
Powerball officials say this is the largest prize in the game’s history and the world’s second largest lottery prize.
Lottery officials say the prize is growing quickly because so many people have been purchasing the $2 tickets. The jackpot has grown by an estimated $236 million since the last drawing on Wednesday and could grow even more.
The last jackpot was won on March 30, so it’s been growing for about six weeks. The next drawing is tonight.
Local Powerball ticket locations reported that they had seen a significant surge in Powerball ticket sales and that they expect sales to increase even more today.
